Writer, Director and Producer

Deborah "Devyn" Chuang is an award winning Taiwanese-American film director, screenwriter, and producer. Their debut short film, “Mom if I Were a Vampire”, premiered at NYC's NewFest, before screening in over ten international festivals, including Taipei Film Festival. In 2023, Devyn was selected as the semi-finalist for the New Voices Filmmaker Grant by NewFest and Netflix.

Devyn’s second short film, “Strawberry Shortcake” premiered at Sitges Film Festival and Vancouver International Film Festival, where it won the Short Forum Award, for best short film in 2024.

Devyn was born in LA but raised in Taipei. They went to UC Berkeley and had worked as an investment banker, a realtor, and a Michelin-starred restaurant cook before beginning her MFA in film at Columbia University. Devyn is especially drawn to the horror genre, citing the Italian and Japanese horror masters as her main influences.

Devyn had lived and worked in ten different cities internationally, including Taipei, San Francisco, Berlin, Tokyo, and New York City. Devyn is fluent in English, Mandarin, Taiwanese, and Cantonese, with a working knowledge of Japanese and French.
